Remembering Police Officer Mathew Mazany | Give Blue | $5,206.69 Donated

by Kelleigh Lamb July 31, 2018

Police Officer Mathew Mazany was assisting during a traffic stop when he was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on June 24, 2018.

Officer Mazany was 41 years old and is survived by his wife and son. He served with the Mentor Police Department for 14 years.

Our Give Blue Fundraiser launched after hearing about the terrible event. We send our deepest thanks to everyone that took part and continues to wear their Thin Blue Line Bracelet in honor of Officer Mazany.

"To Mat's family, thank you for sharing Mat with us. He was destined to be a cop. We're so fortunate that he chose Mentor. Mentor was a safer place and Mentor PD was a better place because of Mat," Tkach said. "To my MDP family, I hope it gives you some comfort knowing Mat loved being a cop and he loved being a cop with you. I'm sure he never told you that, but you know it now. Those aren't my words, he gave them to me a year ago." - Retired Sergeant Scott Tkach, WJW FOX 8 NEWS Cleveland

A total donation of $5,206.69 was donated to the Blue Coats of Lake County.

God bless you, Mathew Mazany. May you rest in peace.
