Reserve Officer Christopher Lawton died after being intentionally run over by a vehicle. The tragedy occurred as he was attempting to serve a narcotics-related felony warrant on March 12, 2018.
Officer Lawton is survived by his wife and two children. He served part-time with the Zachary Police Department for 10 years and was also a full-time firefighter with the Zachary Fire Department.
Our Give Blue Fundraiser was launched to support the family of Officer Lawton. He is remembered as a true hero in his community and we send our deepest thanks to everyone that took part and continues to wear their Thin Red/Blue Line Bracelet in honor of Officer Lawton.
"Chris Lawton is the icon of what a public servant should be," State Fire Marshal Butch Browning said. "For him to be a profession in the fire department and also pursue a profession in law enforcement, speaks to what he was born for." - WBRZ News
A total donation of $4,145.07 was made to the nonprofit funds selected by the family of Officer Christopher Lawton. The total was split between the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and Concerns of Police Survivors, INC. (COPS). These donations will continue the great service that Christopher offered his community.
God bless you, Christopher Lawton. May you rest in peace.
